Starting situation
As a manufacturer of high-quality components and systems in the fields of medical technology, industrial electronics, measurement and regulation technology in small and medium series, the Elektronic Thoma GmbH in Dentlein was faced with the challenge of meeting increasing requirements in terms of safety and ESD protection in the future. Also the number of workstations and the available working space at each workstation was supposed to be increased. So ELABO was commissioned to re-equip the premises.
The solution
ELABO has newly equipped Thoma Elektronic GmbH with ergonomic assembly workstations in complete ESD version. A total of eight rows, each with three Primus One® workstations, have been created using state-of-the-art technology. A special feature of the Primus One® series is the extensive use of the work surface, as all connections are integrated in the system profiles. A retractable cable cover additionally increases the usable area. The certified ESD version of the Primus One® workstation enables safe handling of all components in terms of ESD.
All new workplaces at Thoma Electronic were equipped with a standard power supply system, a continuous supply of 230 V and a reliable computer network. The IT technology with included network switch in the assembly lines will enable intelligent data distribution in the room.
In order to react immediately to future requirements, for example, with regard to the lack of skilled workers or increasing variety, preparations were made to integrate the Elution® software including individual digital assistance (worker guidance).
In addition, two shelves were installed per workstation to provide employees with enough space for materials and tools. An individually controllable LED lighting system ensures the optimal illumination of each workstation and can be adjusted according to the employee or work step.
In order to ensure a smooth material supply on the entire production area, sufficient space was planned between the rows for moving mobiles and lift trucks.
Thus, a modern production area has been created on two floors, where working under optimal conditions is guaranteed - especially with regard to ergonomics, safety and ESD protection.
